Support survivors and help advance our mission to improve the lives of adults and children impacted by family violence at A Safe Place Family Justice Center.

Volunteer Role:

Victim Services Volunteers: help those we serve by creating a safe, welcoming, and compassionate environment. Volunteers may assist with restraining order clinics, phone advocacy, children’s playroom supervision, donation organization, and hospitality support. Across all roles, volunteers provide respectful and trauma-informed assistance to help participants feel supported and cared for.

Time Commitment: ASP-FJC Volunteer Program requests a minimum of two 4-hour shifts per month for at least one year (some exceptions apply). Fulfilling this time commitment minimum must be during operational hours (Weekdays 8am-4pm) when the Center is open to the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age with reliable transportation
  • Understand and commit to the required time commitment
  • Complete a volunteer interview (phone & onsite)
  • Successfully complete a background screening process
    (criminal history check and reference check)
  • Complete drug testing and fingerprinting
  • Complete required (40 hours) training prior to volunteering
  • Understand and agree to uphold all ASP-FJC policies, procedures, and operations manuals

Requirements: Demonstrated experience or ability to work with people in crisis and ability to show sensitivity to the issue of domestic violence & sexual assault. Prior experience working with vulnerable populations preferred.
